KAPA’A (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai police are investigating after a storage shed containing youth football equipment went up in flames early Wednesday morning in Kapa’a.

Officials said the incident occurred around 3:30 a.m. at a shed at the Bryan Baptiste Sports Complex owned by the Kauai Pop Warner Football League.

Authorities said the fire caused $200,000 in damage.

The blaze destroyed the structure and all the sports gear inside just weeks before the start of the season.

An investigation is ongoing.

A GoFundMe has been created to help replace and ship all equipment loss, as well as purchase a temporary storage container and storage supports.
