HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - A downed traffic light created a traffic mess on Kapiolani Boulevard on Tuesday.
The incident forced the closure of all eastbound lanes on Kapiolani at the Ward Avenue intersection. All lanes have since reopened.
The base of the light pole appeared to be rusted out.
This comes as a statewide wind advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday with gusts up to 55 mph bringing the potential threat of downed trees and power outages.
Drivers are advised to avoid the area and take alternate routes at Ala Moana Boulevard.
Meanwhile, police also responded to a downed light pole that blocked the Puuloa exit from Moanalua Freeway eastbound but it has since been cleared.
This is a developing story. Please check back for updates.
