HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Honolulu police are investigating after a man was found fatally shot in a Waipahu business on Thursday morning.

Family and friends identified the victim as 47-year-old Jon Tokuhara.

The disturbing discovery was made at a strip mall inside Tokuhara Acupuncture and Healthcare ― near the corner of Waipahu Depot Street and Farrington Highway.

Officials say officers responded just after 8 a.m.

“When they arrived they met with the owner. She came in and found her son laying in the floor unresponsive with suspicious injuries,” said Honolulu police Maj. Bobby Towne.

Richard Soliven runs a food truck that fronts the clinic.

He says he started work about 5 a.m. and that nothing seemed unusual until officers showed up. “Yes, it’s quiet over here,” he said.

Investigators spent a good part of the day combing the scene for evidence. “The medical examiner is on scene so we will know more in a little while,” Towne said.

Sources say the man had injuries to his head.
