Red flag warning canceled as fire weather conditions ease
HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The National Weather Service has canceled a red flag warning that had been posted since Friday for leeward areas of the islands.
The warning was issued after forecasts pointed to strong and gusty trade winds and low relative humidity levels. Those conditions, combined with warm temperatures, could cause any wildfires to spread rapidly.
Forecast models are pointing to another dry afternoon on Sunday, but winds should be slightly lighter while humidity will be a little higher, with near borderline fire risk conditions.
